I have been a member of an LMC since I started training initially under Arnold Elliott in Redbridge and moved to Kingston & Richmond LMC in the early 90’s . Initially I was involved in setting up out of hours organisations and fundholding. I have also been a medical director of a community trust and been on PCG and CCG committee’s. More recently I have found it easier to have my foot in just one camp so have concentrated on working within Kingston & Richmond. I have chaired this committee taking over from Mike Udal and see my role to facilitate debate and aid in developing a consensus opinion for my area. For the last few years I have chaired the executive committee of Surrey & Sussex LMC and once again see my role of faciltating a collective approach to our 5 LMC’s. I have been a GP since 1989 and have recently handed over the running of our 4 NHS practices to my partners.
Kingston & Richmond only have 2 seats at conference and whereas I am keen for colleagues who have not been to attend , I seem to attend conferences regularly. I am passionate about the independent contractor status and ensuring that those coming out of training have something to go to that will give them a long and enjoyable careers. Something I still feel fortunate to have. General Practice seem always to be going through challenging times but a new contact promised in this parliament needs to deliver to ensure we all have something to work with and within .
I am married and we have 4 children and currently 6 grandchildren . I used to play golf but general practice is too busy to allow me the time to do this currently. I enjoy growing stuff and gardening and making bread.
